soft stone

Stone, as a traditional building material with a long history in human civilization, has undergone millions of years of geological evolution, resulting in unique colors and textures. In the architectural context, it has always shouldered a dual mission: serving as both a surface decoration that outlines spatial aesthetics and a material foundation that supports structural stability. However, with the gradual depletion of rare natural stone resources and the inherent limitations of its shape on plasticity, designers have begun to explore alternatives, turning their attention to soft stone alternatives. This innovative material not only breaks through the limitations of traditional stone in terms of color and texture presentation and irregular shapes, but also gives architectural decoration a freer dimension of expression.

  • Stone surface texture is a form of reprocessing of the stone surface. Its physical properties are the same as natural stone, but its decorative effect is superior. From the perspectives of slip resistance, stain resistance, easy cleaning, impact resistance, and decoration, stone surface treatment can take many different forms. Currently, the most common stone surface processing methods can be roughly divided into the following three categories:

  • The possibility of soft stone
  • A “genetic recombination” in materials science
  • Soft stone is a flexible imitation stone material made by pressing natural stone powder (marble, calcite, etc.) and inorganic modified mineral powder into a base material using environmentally friendly activated clay technology. Its essence is “molecular reconstruction of stone”, with a thickness of only 2-3mm and a maximum size of 1200x3000mm.
  • Compared to real stone, it has several advantages. First, it costs only one-tenth of real stone, offering excellent value for money, and it can be bent to create curved walls. Second, it is waterproof, fireproof, and weather-resistant, easy to clean, and has low maintenance costs. Third, installation is simple; it can be installed by simply applying adhesive, saving time and significantly reducing labor costs.
